What is Probable Cause all about?
I have been researching and writing about aviation for twenty-five years and before that I was actively working in the industry. Aviation is what I know, especially Part 135 of the Federal Aviation Regulations which govern the operation of small airlines and charters. (It’s also where you find most medevac operations, tour flights, and weird things like powerline observation and horse round-ups). I’ve written for all kinds of publications from the Anchorage Daily News to Men’s Journal. What I’m trying to do here is take deep dives on a lot of accidents and overlooked aspects of the industry that you probably never heard of while the big airlines (and Boeing) dominate the media. There’s more to aviation than whatever Delta or United is doing, folks, and that is what I write about.
Why subscribe?
Subscribe to get full access to the [mostly weekly] newsletter and publication archives. It also will help me out as I move from freelancing to this newsletter and pay my lawyer to defend me from the lawsuit over this article.
What else can I promise?
Well, there will be occasional Alaska bush pilot pictures, because like this one of Sig Wien, they are always awesome!.
I will also be writing about the 1932 Mt McKinley Cosmic Ray Expedition, because I am obsessed and working on a book about it.
And, I will always strive to share with you stories that I think will resonate, inform and educate. Mostly, I want to make aviation safer and I hope that this newsletter will help to accomplish that.
